ONBOARD REVIEW SAS AND WINDROSE CHOOSE E-NAVIGATION SIA's first AeroMobile aircraft takes off
Scandinavian Airlines SAS and Ukrainian carrier, Windrose Airlines, have both chosen to deploy electronic navigation from Lufthansa Systems. The five-year contracts are for the Lido/iRouteManual and Lido/Enroute cockpit solutions and Apple iPad apps.
Lido/iRouteManual provides navigation charts for take-off and landing procedures as well as airport and route charts. The charts contain route information including altitude and airport data, and show geographic information such as terrain features and rivers.
The app enables pilots to use their iPads to access professional navigation charts, updated weekly, for instrument flights. Lido/Enroute also enables pilots to use their
iPads to access worldwide, fully dynamic and interactive enroute charts.
The system is designed to make the work of cockpit crews considerably easier.
Singapore Airlines’ new Boeing 777-300ER is the first of eight aircraft being delivered with cutting-edge inflight entertainment and connectivity (wifi and GSM) solutions and hardware from Panasonic Avionics Corporation. The inflight mobile service, powered by AeroMobile, provides passengers with a way to stay connected during the flight. Through AeroMobile’s inflight network, SIA customers will be able to use their own mobiles to send text messages as well as browse the internet.
