Print and design franchise Kall Kwik has relaunched with a lower-cost business model offering a new and wide range of services

conic print franchise, Kall Kwik, is making a comeback to the high street with a new proposition and offering a much wider range of business services, including web design,
email marketing and direct mail, as well as digital and traditional print. The famous print brand is now
part of The Bardon Group, run by Nigel Toplis, which operates a stable of successful franchise businesses including Recognition Express, ComputerXplorers and The ZipYard. Nigel, who started his career in
franchising with Kall Kwik in 1994, before leaving at the end of 2002, says: “Kall Kwik has a new business model – a lower-cost entry model with an emphasis on adding value by providing a host of business services as well as print. Our franchise owners will be trained to offer customers advice on all aspects of marketing to find the most value-for-money way of promoting their business.” Based on the high street, the
relaunched Kall Kwik Business Service Centres are ideally placed to take advantage of the £4.5million SMEs that exist in the UK marketplace, not to mention the 34,000 schools and large corporate organisations. The entry cost has been greatly reduced so potential candidates can acquire a franchise for around £50,000 (excluding shop fit and vat) instead of the previous cost of £100,000-£150,000. This fee covers the right to use the brand, training, marketing launch, equipment and ongoing business support from The Bardon Group team, which has over 70 years of combined experience in franchising. The ongoing operating costs are also much lower since the high-end production is now outsourced.

of business solutions across the full range of Kall Kwik products and services. The on-site equipment will focus heavily on high-quality digital output and large format production. Nigel adds: “Kall Kwik remains the
most recognised brand within the industry. There’s a huge amount of talent out there and it’s time to put the past firmly behind us and focus on regaining that number-one market position by putting marketing in front of equipment, solutions in front of specifications and most importantly people in front of the customer.” The existing network of 52 Kall
Kwik centres in the UK will be harnessed to support the new Kall Kwik Business Centres by carrying out large-scale printing requirements. Stewart Green, 52, has been
running his franchise business since September 2003 and now employs seven people. He was recently awarded Winner of Business of the Year 2012 by the British Association for Print and Communication (BAPC). He says: “I had a lifelong ambition

to run my own business and have a keen interest in photography as well as a passion for marketing. I had no experience in the printing sector and it would have been too great a risk to have set up my own business. Franchising offered me the opportunity to run a printing business by providing all the training, support and expertise I would need to succeed. Also, being part of a well- known brand is a door opener. You’re not starting from scratch. “I visited the National Franchise

together with like-minded individuals, and even today I benefit from the sharing of ideas and new ways to develop the business, with the rest of the network.” n
