On the right track at Railtex 2013

David Hurst, key account manager for rail at GNB Industrial Power (UK) Ltd, explains what the company will be exhibiting at Railtex this year.

T

rain companies in the UK have traditionally used vented or

fl ooded batteries, both lead-acid and alkaline, for starting engines and auxiliary duties.

However, these batteries require regular, disciplined maintenance to ensure they perform as the manufacturer intended.

Failure to adhere to these maintenance requirements can result in poor performance and, at worst, failure in service.

GNB Industrial Power (UK) Ltd, a division of Exide Technologies, is at the forefront in the development of maintenance-free Valve Regulated Lead-Acid (VRLA) batteries with

gel technology as an alternative to existing technologies, and will be showcasing its range of system solutions at this year’s Railtex 2013.

On its stand (G77) GNB will be exhibiting its comprehensive range of VRLA batteries, with both the robust Dryfi t gel technology and AGM glass mat technology, as well as demonstrating the many benefi ts VRLA technology has to offer.

Alongside this, the company

will also be showing its bespoke Lithium-ion offering, which is ideally suited to rail applications.
