Manufactured from high-quality steel tubing to meet both British Standards and our own stringent quality controls, the new range can be supplied in heights between 3m and 12m to meet headload requirements of 25 to 100kgs.


Featuring spring assisted base-hinged


mechanisms, these versatile folding poles can be easily raised or lowered by a single person – keeping maintenance costs to a minimum and removing the need to work at height when performing re-lamping operations.


Durable, versatile and simple to transport, install and maintain, the unique base-hinged range can be supplied with a choice of single or double outreach arms, with either planted root or base plate foundations.

IT improves railway health It


Information technology (IT) has long since been a direct and integral part of modern medicine and laboratory services, and in recent years IT has become more than just administrative support for healthcare providers. Alison Brown, CEO of occupational health provider Healthcare Connections, discusses how supportive IT can maximise innovations and drive forward railway health and safety.

IT enhances our reporting, whilst also reducing customer costs and improving the way we can plan for the ‘future health’ of a workforce. Our National Operations Centre manages large volumes of bookings each day, whilst providing high level service; so to support and streamline this, we introduced a web-based bookings and administration system. Our back-end medical administration solution also, importantly, provides client-centred services.


In the client portal, our rail customers can make/manage bookings, receive results as they happen from our live feed to the laboratory or via the medical team, run their own reports, keep up-to-date with any referred cases and receive/print certifi cation.


IT also helps us to directly address industry issues. For example, the railway is notorious for non-attendance of patients, so we used a simple IT fi x to provide automated reminders for the person who booked the appointment and the patient, via email or SMS message – simply improving attendance and saving money.


Similarly, our Absence Management Programme and Medication Safety Checking system are focused on having the best possible technology in place to back up employee reporting of absence and medication use, whilst updating the employer as it happens of any absence or working practice change required due to medication usage.
