MACHINERY NEWS

This month we are covering embroidery software from Your Embroidery Services Ltd, a new direct to garment printer from GS UK and a new deal on an existing Mimaki printer from Lineker Machines.

Designs take off with DRAWings 6 Q

uite a few years ago now, DRAWings was one of the first pieces of embroidery software to integrate with a recognised graphics package, CorelDraw. Since then the software has gone through various configurations until we reach the latest edition – version 6. This latest version is billed as the design, embroidery and rhinestone solution but, in truth, it goes much further than that. From within the same package you can create designs for embroidery, screen print, rhinestone, sequin and it can even connect with most cutters on the market to cut appliques and quilting.

Amongst the many new features in this version is the ability to create perfect designs using flat back crystal and rhinestones and the timing could not be better with both seeing a resurgence in popularity. Version 6 also allows the user to fill any shape with an array of any other design. What this means is that you can, for instance, create a small design of a chilli pepper and fill a larger outline version of the same design.

The software will work out exactly how it all fits together. For creating monograms the developers have included a host of templates together with a whole array of borders, corners and side embroidery designs. One fascinating feature, which you will only appreciate if you see it, is the circular array contour ability.

This allows you to create complex circular contoured designs quickly and easily which can then be used on your embroideries, quilts or any other craft. You could use True Type fonts in earlier versions but version 6 also allows the use of Open Type fonts expanding the choice and design ability even further. DRAWings Pro 6 was a while in coming but, as they say, it was worth the wait. It has a host of new features as well as an upgrading of existing ones.

New Brother printer for GS UK L G

S UK have recently taken delivery of the new Brother GT-381 direct to garment printer (above). The GT-381 was shown at Printwear & Promotion Live this year and it created quite a stir.

Sean Barker, sales manager of GS UK said: “There was huge interest in the machine at Printwear & Promotion Live, so having a machine available for demonstrations in our Nottingham showroom will be great for customers who want to see it in action.”

The GT3 series of printers is the latest generation of Brother direct to garment models and offer a fully integrated system. All critical firmware, software and printheads are manufactured by Brother which, when coupled with their specially formulated inks, ensures high quality results. The range is also modular so a user can start with the smaller GT341 and then move through the GT-361 and the GT-381 as their business expands. The compact, but productive, GT-381 has four white printheads as well as those for CYMK and utilises Brotherʼs one pass technology. It uses an ink cartridge system which helps deliver consistency of quality with the ink certified by Oeko-Tex Standard 100. With USB stick compatibility and an easy to use interface that means there is no need for a RIP, the GT-381 really is worth a look. ■ For more information visit www.gs-uk.com

A great deal from Lineker Machines

ineker machines are linking the London 2012 Olympics with a great deal on the Mimaki CJV30-60. Since becoming a distributor for this amazingly compact, yet highly productive, machine David Lineker (of Lineker Machines) has been amazed at the reception. He said: “I always knew the machine was special and that is why I was keen to include it in our catalogue, but I was surprised at how popular it is.”

The CJV30-60 normally represents great value for money, packing in more specifications for the price than any other machine in its class. In fact it is marketed as the best ʻbusiness in a boxʼ you can buy.

Supplied with full versions of the Mimaki Rasterlink Pro RIP software (worth £1500), FineCut plugin and design application the CJV30- 60 is extremely easy to use delivering high quality prints thanks to the latest generation print heads and, with its 8-cartridge setup, this machine is the only one in its class to offer full colour, white and metallic inks. It also makes ideal use of multiple heaters to deliver improved drying.

This machine is normally considered good value for money but there is currently the opportunity to include 3.5 litres of ink for just £395. This is enough ink to print approximately 290m2 of full colour vinyl. The offer also allows you to extend the warranty for a further year at a discounted rate. To benefit from this all you have to do is buy a machine before September 28, 2012. ■ For more information visit www.linekermachines.org.uk
