(Thatʼs hearty congratulations to Daiber on their first 100 years!)

romotional wear specialist Daiber celebrated its 100th anniversary this year, having been founded on
February 1, 1912.
The German company has since become a global enterprise, with its own brands Myrtle Beach and James & Nicholson, offering a wide range of fashionable promotional wear throughout Europe.
The companyʼs products are distributed in the UK by Fusible Systems and Fit Apparel.
But after 100 successful years, Rolf Daiber does not intend to rest on his laurels.
He said: "We see the anniversary as a milestone in the company's history that will serve future generations as a model and offers many examples of bold yet wise corporate decisions.”
On February 1, 1912, Gustav Daiber founded a commercial agency for textiles in Ebingen, laying the foundations for the present company.
In the early years he successfully traded elastic braids, sewing threads and buttons.
By 1928 Gustav Daiber was already successful, supplying textile companies throughout the Swabian Alb region. In 1950, Walter Daiber took over operations as the second generation and kept the company on course for success. Soon, the company relocated to new and larger premises. Walter quickly realised that the success lay in their own production and the company began producing bows for the local bodice industry.
In 1962, the 50th anniversary year, a new business idea was born: to import elastic Raschel lace from France and bows from Italy.
Another important milestone came in 1974 when, at the age of just 20, Rolf Daiber took over the management from his father.
His first project was a trip to Taiwan where he tried to attract producers. A new development revolutionised the textile decoration industry in the mid-Seventies – transfer motifs.

representation of the first manufacturer of transfers throughout Germany and was thus once again ahead of its time. While the company continued to grow, Rolf Daiber entered the embroidery sector in 1976.
Four embroidery machines were bought and new employees hired. The fashion of the ʼ80s continued the boom – millions of T shirts with glitter motifs were embroidered and printed. Rolf Daiber responded quickly, establishing the company's market leading position. Then, in 1984, came a world first. For the first time ever, Daiber transferred photo-realistic motifs to T shirts using offset printing.
The demand was huge. And so in the
late ʼ80s, Daiber Far East was founded in the Central District of Hong Kong. To date, Daiber successfully sells transfer motifs in Asia. In the ʼ90s, the company's success story continued with the foundation of a transfer printing company in Ireland. The game-changing idea came to Rolf Daiber in the mid ʼ90s. An idea that turned out to be a historic moment: caps. He contracted two Chinese producers in Hong Kong and on May 30, 1996, the first container with 154,000 caps was shipped.
In no time, Daiber was one of the largest cap suppliers in Europe and the No.1 in Germany. With Daiber caps, the first own brand came into being in 1998. With the new millennium, a new era began for Daiber: the era of its own successful collections. Myrtle Beach became today's most successful brand in Europe for caps. The company's trendy own brand James & Nicholson was not long in coming. And 2001 saw the launch of high-quality promotional and functional wear.
2012 is the anniversary year of the company Daiber. As the producer of the collections Myrtle Beach and James & Nicholson, the company now offers the largest and widest range of fashion and textile merchandising products in Europe – promotion at its best.
A voyage of T
o mark its 100th anniversary, Albstadt-based Daiber invited 400 guests for a glittering celebration along with Rolf Daiber, Kai Gminder and the company's employees aboard the event ship "Sonnenkönigin" in Bregenz on Lake Constance. Guests were welcomed by Rolf Daiber and Kai Gminder with a refreshing aperitif, which set the relaxed mood for the evening. Living Dolls, an acoustic formation of the band "Südlich von Stuttgart“ and silhouette artists mingled with the guests and provided the right atmosphere on the pier and on the ship's sun deck. Finally it was time to cast off and the journey through time began.
Master of Ceremonies, Markus Linder, welcomed the guests and took them on a voyage of discovery through the companyʼs history, acompanied by hits of the respective eras.
The Living Dolls dressed in fashions from the ʼ70s to present day, wearing many items from the company's own brands Myrtle Beach and James & Nicholson. Neil Kippen the manager of the English trade representation insisted – after over 30 years of cooperation – on saying a few words to the guests and thanked Rolf Daiber for this time.
He praised the incomparable success of the company and complimented the whole Daiber family: "Rolf Daiber is a fine person and we wish him all the very best for the future," he told guests. After a sumptuous dinner the magician and illusionist Nicolai Friedrich enchanted the audience not only with his amazing tricks but also with his extraordinary stage presence.
