ongratulations to Clare Walsh, who recently celebrated 25 years


working at embroidery threads specialist, Madeira UK. Clare has seen many changes since she joined the company in 1987 to assist with transferring data to a computerised system. Previously all goods in and out including accounts had been recorded manually – hard to imagine now! The staff at Madeira held a celebration in honour of Clareʼs commitment to the company and to thank her for the exceptional work she has done over the years.

Clare said: “I have seen many changes in my time at Madeira, joining in 1987 essentially to assist in the smooth transfer of data to a computer system.


“In 1988 the company moved to the new purpose-designed office and warehouse in Thirsk. This also involved taking on a large number of staff to ensure that our customersʼ needs were fully met.


“My role primarily is accounts and credit control; following the retirement of Sara Macpherson in 2001, I became Company Secretary.


“In 2004 the company moved again to a purpose-designed building, along with a new
