Brilliant 3D effects with latest Graphtec solution A closer look at the Silhouette CAMEO desktop cutter and the PolyDrop doming system.

ell known for its innovative cutting and finishing solutions, Graphtec GB has experienced a significant growth in business following the introduction of the Silhouette CAMEO desktop cutter and more recently the PolyDrop doming system. Both solutions provide a host of individual as well as complementary benefits for manufacturers and suppliers of sports and leisure garments, fashion accessories and promotional products. The PolyDrop doming system, in particular, now adds a new and vibrant dimension to garment and accessory decoration by enabling eye-catching customised 3D effects to be achieved. The system dispenses specially developed polyurethane resins and hardeners to a wide range of materials, including fabrics such as Lycra, cotton, cotton mixes, nylon and leather. The Tex Drop feature of the system uses a thermo-adhesive film on to which an image is printed, cut out and then domed with a choice of resin (including a special glitter-effect option) using an industry-standard heat press to speed up
chemicals, abrasion and UV degradation. They are also completely safe to handle and are available in a range of different grades to suit specific applications. The PolyDrop system is very easy to operate and requires no special training or operator skills.
It is supplied with a start-up kit that includes manual and automatic feed functions, polyurethane doming resins and hardeners and a special liquid dispenser.

The Silhouette CAMEO desktop cutter is a new and larger version of the popular Silhouette cutter but now offers a number of advanced design features. These include a new cutting head to enable a more diverse range of materials to be handled via an extended 12-inch cutting width facility and the ability to cut thicker and more difficult materials that until now would not have been possible using a conventional desktop cutter. The Silhouette CAMEO is part of a range of market-leading cutting solutions from Graphtec GB. This includes the fuller-featured and larger CE and the flagship FC series of cutters.
