C&K Components Develops Concept for Automotive HMI (Human-Machine-Interface)

Newton, MA — C&K Components has developed a new component con- cept for complex automotive HMIs (human machine inter- faces). De signated the CLK Series, the energy-free electro- mechanical device provides con- sistent, self-guided motion with uniform haptic feedback for auto- motive touch-sensing HMI appli- cations.

Now, automotive HMIs that

have capacitive controls, such as touchpads or touchscreens, can integrate the CLK Series inside their architecture to make them “clickable”.

According to the company,

this product provides an energy- free tact switch solution that delivers “clickable” functionality and excellent haptic feedback, by offering a unique alternative to other HMI-integrated component concepts. In addition, the CLK is adaptable to any surface size, open- ing new possibilities for car interior systems. The advanced CLK switches

New Bidirectional Current- Sense Amplifiers from Touchstone Semiconductor

Milpitas, CA — Touchstone Semi - conductor, Inc. has introduced the TS1101, the first bidirectional, sym- metrical, high-side current-sense amplifier (CSA). The product consumes only 1µA, a 30X reduction over the closest competing product. The TS1101’s symmet-

rical architecture eliminates the “dead band” when switching from measuring battery discharge to measur- ing battery charge. This breakthrough significantly simplifies customer designs while, at the same time, reducing power, saving board space and improving system accuracy. The TS1101 further

improves system accuracy with input offset voltage guaranteed to be 100µV, a four times improvement over the closest competing part. The product is available in four gain options from 25V/V to 200V/V, enabling users to choose the best gain option for their application. The device is a suitable choice

for low current, high-side current- sensing amplification in applications

such as battery-powered and portable devices, including mobile phones, notebook computers, power management systems, motor control,
