Breda, The Netherlands — The Balver Zinn Group’s Cobar Solder Products Inc. supplied soldering materials for the recent hand solder competition at the IPC APEX EXPO in San Diego. During the two-day hand sol-

dering competition, numerous com- panies competed to build a function- al electronics assembly in 30 min- utes. Assemblies were judged on sol- dering in accordance with IPC-A- 610E Class 3 criteria, the speed at which the assembly was produced and overall electrical functionality of assembly. IPC-A-610E Master In- structors served as the judges. SN100C is a high-reliability

flux-cored lead-free solder wire that generates minimal spatter even with the high solder tip temperatures re- quired to burn off polyurethane insu- lating enamel. The alloy reduces risk of copper erosion during soldering and slow growth of the interfacial inter- metallic layer in service. Additional features include low

flux spattering, minimal cracking of flux residue, low fuming and odor, and cost-effective high-temperature soldering. The wire also can be used with soldering tip temperature up to 400°C. The alloy extends the solder

Manncorp: Inline PCB

Cleaning System

Willow Grove, PA —Manncorp has ex- panded its website section dedicated to PCB cleaners. Included are updates of existing models and a new inline board cleaning and defluxing system for water-soluble fluxes that combines higher throughput with special opera- tional and ecological benefits. The inline system reportedly

meets market demand for increased board width by accommodating PCBs up to 24-in. (609mm). It also uses less floor space, measuring just a lit- tle more than 12-ft. (3.6m) long. Less energy and water are consumed with its 60° angled nozzle that directs spray under the components for more thorough removal of all water-solu- ble (OA) flux residues.

tiny chip components as well as indi- vidual solder joints, the Cobrush flux applicator puts flux only where it is needed — in just the right amount — and is suitable for applying liquid no- clean fluxes to any site that needs to be soldered. The tool disposable and compatible with many different types of fluxes. Its fine bristle tip allows the user to apply flux to very small areas in densely populated assem- blies. This inex pensive applicator cuts down on waste and prevents overfluxing, thus reducing possible cleaning time and preventing con- tamination. Its transparent car tridge allows the user to see the amount of remain-

ing material in the reservoir. Its small, compact size and

large capacity make it especially suitable for most rework and post-as- sembly applications. Flux is dis- pensed by lightly squeezing the bar- rel, then using the gentle applicator bristles to apply the flux, just like an artist’s brush, which allows the user to control the amount of flux flow. A snug-fitting cap prevents flux evapo- ration in the barrel, thus extending

the life and purity of the flux. Contact: Cobar Solder Products, 53 Wentworth Avenue, London -
