Page 39 ACE Upgrades Selective Soldering Machine

Spokane Valley, WA — ACE Produc- tion Technologies has re-launched its popular entry-level KISS 101A Selec- tive Soldering machine, based on feedback and suggestions from users around the globe. The KISS-101A is described as a cost effective, entry level selective soldering machine. The system is especially popular with companies doing prototype vol- ume, quick turn jobs that have a few through-hole components. Improve- ments include a new skin and new controls mounted in a way that fur- ther minimizes the system’s foot- print. The KISS-101A is by far the lowest-cost automated selective sol- dering machine available using the company’s proven “traveling mini- solder wave” soldering process. The improved system includes

these standard features: universal PCB location rails; lead alloy solder pot and pump assembly (lead-free available); 6 and 12mm “Bullet” noz- zles; programming camera; manual fiducial location; heated nitrogen to the solder nozzle; Windows O/S; rapid setup and time to “first produc- tion” using the machine “teach” func- tions or available “off line” program- ming; programmable solder wave flow rate; absolute control over all critical process parameters; 12 x 12- in. (304 x 304mm) PCB processing capability; step and repeat capability in both X and Y axis for multiple boards in a panel. According to the company, the

new machine couples high throughput with precise process controls. The pro-

Nippon Pulse: Linear Shaft Motor

Radford, VA — Nippon Pulse’s S605 Linear Shaft Motor offers up to 3100N of acceleration force and a continuous force of 780N. The unit is suitable for industrial applications requiring high force, high precision, and energy efficiency. The motor can achieve sub-micron resolution. The motor is available with one

of three types of windings — double, triple, quadruple — and has an accel- eration force range between 1000N and 3100N and an acceleration cur- rent between 34 and 35A. Accelera- tion force and current can be main- tained for up to 40 seconds. The motor has a shaft diameter of

60.5mm and is available with effective strokes between 200 and 2000mm. Other features of the S605 include con- tinuous forces between 420 and 780N, continuous currents between 8.4 and 8.8A, a non-critical air gap of 1.75mm, and a rated voltage of 240V. The first linear servomotor de-

signed for the ultra-high precision market, the Linear Shaft Motor is available in 18 different sizes, ranging from 4mm to 60.5mm. The motors have no cogging issues, offer stiffness up to 100 times greater than similar motors, use all created magnetic flux, and minimize heat generation. As a result, independent studies have proven it to be 50 percent more energy efficient than competing linear mo-

tors, including u-shaped motors. Contact: Nippon Pulse America,

grammable features provide the tools to set all process parameters, and once set, the system will repeat pre- cisely. Even though it is an entry-level priced machine, it will out-produce three or more operators soldering with an iron while significantly in- creasing the solder joint quality and to a predictable schedule. That means tremendous labor cost savings, higher throughput, and higher product qual-

ity and consistency. Contact: ACE Production Tech- nologies, 3010 N. First Street,
