On Tour with David R. Carr


u GER David Carr and his wife, Penny, traveled to Orange Beach, ALABAMA, to attend the midyear convention of the Alabama Elks Association. Prior to the convention, the first couple toured the National Naval Aviation Museum, which is located on the grounds of Naval Air Station Pensacola in Pensacola, Florida. During the convention’s business sessions, the GER heard the report of the state major project, which supports the Easter Seals Camp ASCCA, a camp for children and adults with disabilities. The GER also held an open session to discuss the business of the Order and other issues with the Alabama Elks in attendance. GER David Carr and his wife, Penny, visited two lodges in CALIFORNIA. On their first night in the Golden State, the first couple joined about 200 other Elks and guests at a gala celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Whittier Lodge. The following day, they moved on to Pasadena, where they rang in the new year with more than 300 other Elks and guests. On New Year’s Day, the GER inspected the Pasadena Elks’ float in the annual Tournament of Roses Parade, vis- ited the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library, and spent the afternoon at Santa Anita Park, where GER Carr presented the winner’s trophy for a horse race sponsored by the Pasadena Lodge. The fol- lowing morning, the first couple attended the Tourna- ment of Roses Parade and then the Rose Bowl football game as guests of the Pasadena Lodge. u GER David Carr and his wife, Penny, traveled to Honolulu, HAWAII, as guests of the Hawaii District of the California- Hawaii Elks Association. During their three-day stay, they visited Pearl Harbor to see the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument and the USS Arizona Memorial and to place a lei on the Elks Memorial Plaque at the memorial site. To conclude their visit, the first couple joined Elks from four Hawaii lodges for a dinner and luau at the Honolulu Lodge.
