Elks Drug Awareness Program


l ALABAMA ELKS ASSOCIATION sponsored a tour by motivational speaker Milton Creagh. Creagh spoke at seven schools, one community center, and the midyear convention of the Alabama Elks Association. Nearly 3,900 people, including nearly 3,600 students and nearly 270 teachers, attended the presentations at the schools and the community center. Creagh spoke about the negative consequences that drug and alcohol use can have on the lives of young people. Lake Havasu City, AZ, Lodge donated $100 to the Lake Havasu City Parks and Recreation Department to support the city’s annual drug- and alcohol- free Spring Teen Break.


Harrison, AR, Lodge donated nearly 1,300 packets of drug awareness materials to local schools to be distributed to students. In other news, lodge members, with the help of Elroy the Elk, staffed the state association’s drug awareness trailer at two community events and distributed nearly 180 packets of information to parents and children.


Golden, CO, Lodge used part of a $2,000 ENF Promise Grant to donate nearly $1,800 to the Golden High School Parent-Teacher Association to help pay for a drug- and alcohol-free after-prom party.


Fairfield, CT, Lodge donated a Connecticut Elks Association grant worth more than $1,700 to the Fairfield Recreation Department to
