Elks National Veterans Service Commission


Lake Havasu City, AZ, Lodge donated $920 to the local Disabled American Veterans chapter. Funds for the donation came from the annual Pearl Harbor Golf Tournament that the lodge holds in cooperation with several other fraternal organizations.


Phoenix, AZ, Lodge members took part in the Arizona Stand Down for Homeless Veterans, which served more than 1,200 homeless and at-risk veterans. The lodge donated $400 to purchase underwear and socks for veterans. The lodge also donated more than $1,000 worth of women’s clothing and nearly $1,400 worth of men’s clothing to the event. Lodge members volunteered to escort veterans during the event to make sure each veteran benefited from all of the services that were available to him or her. Follow- ing the event, the donated clothes that had not been distributed to veterans were given to several local charities that assist homeless veterans. In other news, the lodge held a Steak Dinner for 16 veterans, two family members, and five staff members from the Arizona State Veteran Home.


Orange, CA, Lodge donated a $2,000 ENF Freedom Grant and $2,000 in lodge funds to Manor House, a transitional housing facility for homeless veterans, to purchase new flooring. Lodge members also volun- teered to remove the old flooring.


Ukiah, CA, Lodge held a Memorial Dinner to honor the memory of US Navy Special Warfare Operator PO1 (SEAL) Jesse D. Pittman. Petty Officer Pittman died when the

Lakewood, CO, Lodge made a dona- tion of $500 worth of toiletries and $500 worth of grocery store gift cards to the Colorado VA outreach program for homeless veterans.


Seaford, DE, Lodge donated nearly $380 to the Home of the Brave in Milford, which is a transitional housing facility for homeless veterans.


Aripeka, FL, Lodge used part of a $2,000 ENF Gratitude Grant to donate $840 to the Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home. Lodge members also sent birthday cards to 29 veterans at the home.

Service Committee donated 250 DVD movies and video tapes to the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa.


Hollywood West, FL, Lodge members visited the Alexander Sandy Nininger State Veterans Nursing Home. Lodge members provided snacks and gave shawls to ten veterans living at the home. Lodge members also joined 22
