Buckeye, AZ, Lodge held a Mexican Dinner and Raffle fund-raiser. The event raised nearly $1,600 to help a lodge member make his daughter’s bathroom handicapped accessible.


Kingman, AZ, Lodge members honored the winners of their Americanism Essay Contest in a ceremony at the Kingman Academy of Learning Middle School. Lodge members judged 76 entries and awarded gold medals to the six students who submitted the best essays. The six winners were Kristen Finch, Madison Gillespie, Bryce Graham, Kye Hill, Ellissa Himes, and Jeanna Paulsen.


Casa Grande Valley, AZ, Lodge members awarded $1,000 scholarships to three Vista Grande High School students and three Casa Grande Union High School students. The Vista Grande students were Leigh Louis, who received the Lowell Fritz Memorial Scholarship; Marissa McCrory, who received a lodge scholarship; and Rachel Osei, who received the Marge Fritz Memorial Scholarship. The Casa Grande Union students were Armando Salinas, who received a lodge scholarship; Katherine Wallis, who received the Lou Seil Memorial Scholarship; and De’Vonnae Woodson-Heard, who received the Richard Davis Jr. Memorial Scholarship. Alabama Elks Association Darts Club held a Darts Tournament fund- raiser at the Bessemer Lodge and raised $1,700 to help Bessemer Lodge member Ben Gilmore purchase a prosthetic leg.


Anniston, AL, Lodge members distrib- uted dictionaries to nearly 2,000 third- grade students in 31 schools.


Roebuck, AL, Lodge held a Dinner fund-raiser and raised $1,000 for the Salvation Army. The funds were to be used to support victims of tornadoes that struck Alabama on January 23. Lodge members also donated $900 worth of baked goods and several hundred dollars’ worth of meat to the Clayridge Baptist Church to help provide meals to tornado victims and volunteer workers.

El Cajon, CA, Lodge made a donation of more than 1,500 pounds of alumi- num pull tabs to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, which provides temporary housing to families of hospitalized children. The aluminum was sold for its scrap value


Kearny, AZ, Lodge members distributed dictionaries to 80 third-grade students at Ray Primary School and Winkelman Elementary School. Pictured with some of the dictionary recipients at Ray Primary School is PER Robert Moore.
