State Capitol District, NY, lodge members participated in the 52nd annual Center for Disability Services Telethon. The district donated nearly $49,000, and district

volunteered to answer phones during the telethon. The Center for Disability Services provides a range of educational, residential, and medical services to children and adults with disabilities. Salem, OR, Lodge held a Dinner- Dance donation drive event and collected $165 in cash donations and more than 660 pounds of food for Marion-Polk Food Share, which supplies food banks and soup kitchens in Marion and Polk Counties.
Tillamook, OR, Lodge members honored the winners of their Ameri- canism Essay Contest in a ceremony at the lodge. Lodge members judged 29 essays submitted by fifth- through eighth-grade students and selected the top five essays in each of the fifth- and sixth-grade division and the seventh- and eighth-grade division. Lodge members awarded certificates to each of the winners and awarded cash prizes worth $75, $50, and $25 to the first-, second-, and third-place win- ners, respectively, in each division. The top three winners of the fifth- and sixth-grade division were Sam Hooley (first), Claire Bradley (second), and Abby Coulter (third). The top three winners of the seventh- and eighth- grade division were Taylor Browning (first), Bridget Stavens (second), and Victoria Elligsen (third).
Cranberry, PA, Lodge donated 200 gifts to the Victim Outreach Interven- tion Center (VOICE) to be given to children and women residing at the program’s shelter for victims of domestic violence.

In other news, lodge members attended a Court of Honor Ceremony for new Eagle Scout Joshua Nuss- baum, of lodge-sponsored Boy Scout Troop No. 404, and presented him with a framed certificate and a US flag. The lodge also donated $125 to Troop No. 404. For his Eagle Scout Project, Nussbaum built and placed new signs for the Family Retreat Center in Cranberry.

State College, PA, Lodge members attended a Court of Honor Ceremony for new Eagle Scout Mark Younkins, of Boy Scout Troop No. 380, and presented him with a certificate and a US flag. For his Eagle Scout Project, Younkins installed a bench and landscaped the yard outside the Centre County Youth Service Bureau’s headquarters in State College.
Woonsocket, RI, Lodge members delivered Christmas food baskets to nearly 230 needy families.
Hilton Head Island, SC, Lodge held a Flag-Retirement Ceremony and respectfully disposed of more than 400 worn and damaged US flags.
Denison, TX, Lodge held a Valentine’s Day Dinner fund-raiser for the lodge Sweetheart Fund, which supports the state major project, Texas Elks Children’s Services. Nearly 70 people attended the dinner.
Grapevine, TX, Lodge donated $500 to the Grapevine High School Future Farmers of America club.
Newport, OR, Lodge members awarded $1,000 scholarships to Newport High School student Karan Rai and Waldport High School student Ruth Hale, $500 scholarships to Newport High School student Emily Helt and Waldport High School student Casey Chesshir, and a $500 Orval Hoech Award to Newport High School student Antonio Sam. Lodge members also presented a $1,200 Oregon Northwest District scholarship to Rai.
