Las Vegas, NM, Lodge held a Christmas Party for 27 children with special needs and their guardians. The guests were given lunch, the children were given gifts by Santa Claus, and each of the 13 families was given a food basket to take home for Christmas. Gallipolis, OH, Lodge held its annual Valentine’s Dance and Italian Night Party. During the event, the lodge raised more than $7,700 from dona- tions and an auction for the Elks National Foundation. More than 240 people attended the dance.


Van Wert, OH, Lodge donated $150 to the Van Wert City Police Depart- ment’s Officer Phil Safety Program, which provides safety instruction to elementary school students.

Greensboro, NC, Lodge donated 790 pounds of food to Greensboro Urban Ministry’s food bank.


Hendersonville, NC, Lodge members delivered Christmas food baskets to 130 needy families. Each basket contained a week’s worth of food and other supplies and toys for the children of the family. The toys were provided by the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. A total of nearly 240 adults and nearly 220 children were assisted by the food basket program. Lodge members also gave gift cards to 52 needy elementary school students to help them purchase winter coats. The total value of the gift cards was $2,000.


In other news, the lodge Golf Committee donated $2,500 to the lodge’s Standing Relief Fund, which provides assistance to lodge members with emergency needs.


In more news, lodge members recognized the winners of their Americanism Essay Contest in a

ceremony at the lodge. Lodge members judged nearly 200 entries from fifth- through eighth-grade students and chose three winners in each of the fifth- and sixth-grade division and the seventh- and eighth-grade division. Lodge members awarded certificates and savings bonds to the winners. The winners of the fifth- and sixth-grade division were Clear Creek Elementary School students Skyland Thompson (first) and Annaliese Baldwin (second) and Fletcher Elementary School student Isabella Justice (third). The winners of the seventh- and eighth- grade division were Immaculata Catholic School students Nathan Kelsch (first), Jonathan Simmonds (second), and Morgan Lance (third).


Elyria, OH, Lodge donated more than $18,000 to the Children’s Developmen- tal Center, which serves children with developmental disorders.


In other news, the lodge donated 23 coats, 30 hats, scarves, and pairs of gloves, and 70 cans and boxes of nonperishable food to the Elyria Neighborhood Alliance to support its Emergency and Shelter Services Program. The lodge also donated a box of toys to the Salvation Army.


Bartlesville, OK, Lodge donated and distributed 550 coats to needy people. In other news, the lodge held a Christmas Charity Dance and Silent Auction fund-raiser and raised $2,700 for lodge charities.


Coquille Valley, OR, Lodge members delivered Christmas food baskets to 235 needy families. The families that benefited included more than 580 adults and more than 300 children.


Cottage Grove, OR, Lodge members presented the state major project, the Elks Children’s Eye Clinic at the Casey Eye Institute, with $1,000 that was donated by a visitor to the lodge.


Milwaukie, OR, Lodge held a Haunted House fund-raiser and raised $7,900 for lodge charities. Over the 21 days the house was open, 1,600 paying guests and 200 complimentary visitors toured it.


Oregon City, OR, Lodge members delivered Christmas food boxes to more than 460 needy families. Each family received two large boxes of food. In other news, lodge members awarded scholarships to seven local students. The total value of the scholarships was $11,000.
