Grand Exalted Ruler, and in 2007 was recognized as the Elk of the Year by the Maine Elks Association; and Whereas, He has served the Grand Lodge with distinc- tion as district deputy for the Northern District of Maine in 1995, as a member of the GL Lodge Activities/State Associa- tions Committee since 2007 and is the current chairman of the committee, and serves as a special representative of the Grand Lodge in the Central District of Maine; and Whereas, He served his country faithfully and honorably for four years as a medical technician in the US Air Force from 1967 to 1971; and Whereas, He enjoyed a distinguished forty-year career in public service, first as a police officer for the City of Presque Isle, which spanned twenty-five years, from 1971 to 1996, was promoted to detective in 1974, was appointed chief of police in 1988, and in 1980 graduated from the University of Maine in criminal justice, is past chairman of the Aroostook County Chiefs of Police Association, was elected president of the Maine Chiefs of Police Association, and was ap- pointed as the administrator of the Office of Chief Medical Examiner of the State of Maine and served until his retire- ment in 2011; and Whereas, He has also distinguished himself for his ser- vice to his state and community, as a charter and past member of the Maine Commission on Domestic Violence, as a nine-year member of the Board of Trustees of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, and is a past president of the Maine Medico-Legal Society, is a past member of the Presque Isle Kiwanis Club, past member of the corporate board of the Aroostook Medical Center, served on the Presque Isle City Council, is a past president of the Presque Isle Country Club, and was recognized as Presque Isle Citizen of the Year in 1996, is also a proud member of the Trinity Lodge No. 130 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in Presque Isle and the Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor, ME; and Whereas, He has had the continued and unwavering support for over forty-three years of his loving wife, Verna, and of their two children and three grandchildren; and Whereas, He has a record of distinguished service to his family, community, professional and fraternal life, all re- flecting well on him, as well as on our Order; now therefore Be it resolved, that Presque Isle Lodge No. 1954 is honored and proud to present to the 2012 Grand Lodge Convention in Austin, Texas, the name of James A. Rumney, served as the chairman of the trustees of two defunct lodges, served as a member of the Grand Lodge Ritualistic Committee from 2004 to 2010, the last two years as the committee chairman; and Whereas, He has been married for fifty-one years to his loving wife, Beverly, who is an Elks member, has one son, Randy, PER of Dakota County, Minnesota, Lodge 2832, two daughters, Michelle, and her husband Tom (an Elk), and Londa, and her husband Tim, and seven grandchil- dren; now therefore Be it resolved, That the officers and members of Willmar, Minnesota, Lodge No. 952 are honored and privileged to present to the 2012 Grand Lodge Convention in Austin, Texas, the name of Ray A.
