Research into ‘talking’ cars could dramatically reduce road accidents
This August sees the testing of new technology which could change the way we travel. A team from the University of Bologna is currently researching a new software that allows cars to ‘communicate’ with each other whilst driving. Using a computer programme installed either directly
into the dashboard or Sat Nav, they would be able to gauge the direc- tion and speed of other vehicles which could prevent up to 40% of motorway crashes. The system will be road-tested by Toyota in Los Angeles and could soon be coming to a motorway near you!
