SOUTH WEST FOUR WEEKENDER www.southwestfour.com

27th - 28th August - Clapham Common Every cloud has a silver lining, and their abundance these days forces us to conclude that something wicked this way comes. The days may be getting shorter but the nights of revelry are growing long and gaining momentum as we roll towards the end of August in full force. South West Four Weekender 2011 is part of the incredible spectrum of events lined up for this month’s bank holiday weekend; come rain or shine, London’s chief electronic music festival is ready to envelop its revellers in a blanket of

ONE LOVE FESTIVAL 19th-21st August - Kingston

www.onelovefestival.co.uk

33 years ago, Bob Marley and the Wail- ers performed at the One Love Peace Concert in Kingston’s National Arena in an attempt to end the feud between Jamaica’s political parties. Unbeliev- ably, in a flash of lightning and a roll of thunder, the party heads met on stage for a handshake that would pacify the rivals and cool down their fiery conflict. 33 years later the spirit of ‘One Love, One Heart’ lives on with One Love Festival, the UK’s biggest Reggae and Dub three day festival, spread- ing Marley’s message of peace to the people. Expect Reggae and Dancehall with Britain’s top dog David Rodigan, sunny Reggae with Finlay Quaye and the powerfully emotive passion of Ken

Boothe heading things up on the One Love Stage. Feel the positive vibes with Aba Shanti and DubMastor and get your Roots Reggae education from the University of Dub on the Lively Up Yourself Stage. Hole yourself up with like-minded pleasure-seekers and get cabin fever in the Dub Shack with More Rockers, Inspector Dub Plate and the Iration Steppas and finally, let those ruff-rolling riddims wash over you with Congo Natty a.k.a Rebel MC and Kosine & X Nation featuring the Ragga Twins at the Unity Collective Area. underground sounds, dishing out more electromechanical beats than you can shake a stick at. SW4 will be bringing you a killer line-up with Underworld, Laidback Luke, Sven Väth, Tiga and M.A.N.D.Y. kicking the festival into motion on Saturday the 27th. Meanwhile, Sunday will feature Pendulum’s only live London appearance of 2011 and Digital Soundboy Soundsystem will be taking over the main stage with big-name bass kingpins Shy FX and Breakage. That should be enough to tickle even your nan’s pleasure-seeking fancy.

CREAMFIELDS FESTIVAL 26th - 28th August - Cheshire

www.creamfields.com

Another bank holiday event for the diary is the relatively young Creamfields, which despite only debuting in 1998 has built a wor- thy reputation as a hub of Dance and Pop music. There are massive mainstream acts playing this year

including Tiesto, David Guetta, The Chemical Brothers (they seem to be getting everywhere) and Katy B, and the event is only half an hour from Manchester or Liverpool and easily accessible by train or coach. Creamfields is not limited

to the UK; there are sister events taking place in Spain, Malta and Ibiza, so hotfoot it out there if you fancy all of the buzz but none of the mud. Back at home tickets are available at £145 for three days or £65 for one if you just want to check out your favourite headliner. See you there!
