Downers Grove Park District staff occasionally photograph or videotape program participants or park visitors for publicity purposes. Please be aware that these photos may be used in park district publications, the district’s website or other promotions.

Inclusive Recreation Programs
In a continuing effort tomeet the needs of residents with special needs, SEASPAR and the Downers Grove Park District provide inclusive recreation services. Thismeans that individuals with disabilities are able to participate in programs offered by the park district. This inclusive recreation environment provides residents with disabilities greater choices for their leisure and allows all residents to learn about one another as they participate together. Let the park district and SEASPAR know of your special needs and interests so we can be prepared to provide you with appropriate services. Find outmore about SEASPAR on page 79.
Speakers Bureau
The Speakers Bureau is a community service designed to provide residents with information about the diverse and exciting leisure opportunities available through the park district.Members of the Board of Park commissioners and staff are on call to speak to groups such as homeowner associations, PTAs, service clubs, churches and businesses. For Your Safety
In the event of a serious accident or illness, it is the park district’s policy to contact the fire department for emergency first aid and transportation to the hospital. Preschool-age children enrolled in park district programs are not released froma class to anyone other than a parent or guardian unless advance written notification is given to the instructor.
Safety and Park Etiquette for Pets and People
• Dogsmust be leashed at all times. Leashes must be nomore than 6 feet in length.
• The person in control of the animal is responsible for cleaning up pet waste. Violation of these ordinances is subject to a fine.
• Dogs are not allowed on athletic fields, playground areas, jogging paths or at LymanWoods and Belmont Prairie.
• Please bring a water dish as pets are not allowed to drink fromfountains.
Code of Conduct
To ensure an enjoyable and safe program for all participants, the park district has developed the following behavior code. Participantsmust: • Show respect to all participants and staff • Refrain fromusing foul language • Refrain fromcausing bodily harm • Show respect to equipment, supplies and facilities
• Additional rules are developed for specific programs as deemed necessary by the staff
Discipline
The park district applies a caring, positive approach to discipline. Rules are reviewed with participants and staff is willing to work with parents to develop behaviormodification programs as necessary. The park district reserves the right to dismiss a participant whose behavior creates an unsafe environment.
Insurance
The park district carries nomedical insurance and assumes no liability for personal injuries or loss of personal property while attending park district activities. A participant’s policy must cover anymedical cost incurred.
Resident Grant Programs
Residents unable to participate due to financial reasonsmay qualify for a partial waiver of programfees. Formore information call 630.963.1300.
Gift Cards
Give a gift of recreation! The Downers Grove Park District offers gift cards in any amount and can be used for hundreds of different classes, activities and events. Purchase gift cards year-round at Lincoln Center, 935Maple Avenue, the Recreation Center, 4500 Belmont Road and during the season at the Golf Course Clubhouse, 2420 Haddow Avenue. Newsletters
Park Places, a quarterly newsletter, ismailed to all park district residents. Learn about park district programs, ongoing and upcoming projects and improvements andmeet the people whomake it possible to take time for fun.
Park Avenews, which provides information about events, trips and programs, is published during the school year and is distributed through District 58 and local elementary and middle schools.
