COACH ENGE provides a hand-picked, experienced and qualified staff. Lesson programs are designed by both age and ability levels. Classes meet two times a week. All players are given a USTA National Skills Test as well as an achievement award at the end of each series.

Class Descriptions &

Ability Levels

Rookies I, II, III (ages 5 - 8): This level

encourages having fun on the court with simple games and lead-up drills to the forehand and service.

Beginners (All ages): No previous

instruction is required. Teaching includes an introduction to ground strokes, rally drills, elementary service, footwork and scoring.

Advanced Beginners (All ages): A wide

range of basic strokes is taught including forehand/backhand topspin on themove, basic service, block volley and shot placement along with an introduction to competitive points, games andmodified sets.

Intermediate I & II (All ages): Emphasis is

placed on steadiness, consistency, control and placement of shots. Instruction includes angles, approach shots, service and return of service, overhead and lob drills and some emotional andmental match thoughts.

Rookies/Jrs. 7 - 10 years Juniors

17+

Junior/Teens 10 - 14 years Teens Adult

5 - 8 years 8 - 12 years 13 - 16 years

Rain Procedure

In the event of inclement weather call your tennis instructor’s cell phone. Phone number will be provided on the first day of class.

First four-week sessionmake-up dates: Thursday/Friday, July 8 & 9. Second four-week sessionmake-up date: Monday, August 9 or come to another class of similar ability level during the session.

Lesson make-up policy does not apply to players who simply skip a lesson.

A maximum of two rain make-ups for each lesson series is guaranteed.

Sessions:

Session 1: June 7 - July 1 Session 2: July 12 - August 5

Discount Fees

JUNIORS: $8 discount fee if registration for both sessions is submitted by June 2. ADULTS: $9 discount fee if registration for both sessions is submitted by June 2.

Friday “Junior Open

Class Competition”

Playersmust be advanced beginners or above and have had prior instruction or have been selected by one of the instructors. These playersmeet a third time each week on Fridays from9:00 - 10:00 amat a site to be announced.

Tennis Courts

Park district tennis facilities are available atMcCollum,Doerhoefer and Randall parks. Please be a courteous tennis enthusiast! Learn the rules of tennis to better enjoy this lifelong leisure activity.
