Hunter Safety Education

State-certified volunteer educators teach the basics of safe hunting, including hunter responsibility, wildlifemanagement, firearm, ammunition and archery safety, first aid and survival techniques. Passing a Hunter Safety class is required for anyone born on or after January 1, 1980 who wants an Illinois hunting license. This course alsomeets the requirements for adult hunters inmany other states. Children under the age of 12must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 16. Youmust attend all classroomsessions and pass a written examto receive a certificate.

Parents are strongly encouraged to attend with their children.
