OUTDOOR NATURE EXPLORATIONS

Immerse yourself and your children in the natural world! Take part in a programat LymanWoods or the Belmont Prairie!Many programs will be held outdoors so please wear comfortable clothing and take weather conditions into account. Shorts, sandals, and strollers are discouraged. If a class is canceled due to weather, we will attempt to contact you as soon as possible.

Goodnight Twilight Hikes

Explore LymanWoods at night! Hike the trails with a knowledgeable naturalist to explore the nighttime sky, search for nocturnal critters and listen to the sounds of the woods at night. End the evening sharing stories around a roaring campfire complete withmarshmallow roasting! Each night will be full of new adventures, so register for all three! Please list the number and ages of familymembers when you register. In case of inclement weather, portions of the programmay be held indoors.

Looking for some quality family time? Are your kids having all the summer camp fun while you’re at work? Bring the whole family to LymanWoods to spend some time together outdoors this summer! Family Adventure Camp is designed to involve the entire family in exciting nature camp activities and adven- tures. Family campers explore the woods and wetlands, take guided nature hikes, cozy up to the campfire, and test your teamwork during camp games and activities. Family campers will be exploring all of LymanWoods, so strollers are not recommended. Please list the number and ages of familymembers when you register. Green Family Farmers

Looking for a way to provide healthy, organic food for your family without breaking the bank? Learn where your food really comes fromand grow your own! Green Family Farmers is for anyone who is new to gardening, is limited on space, and wants their family to learn about gardening, healthy habits, and stewardship for the land. Cathy Hlohowskyj, president of the Downers Grove Organic Gardeners, will guide your family through the process of planning, planting,maintaining and harvesting your organic mini-garden plot atMar-Duke Farm. The fee includes your mini-plot rental, four instructed sessions, basic starter seeds and guidance throughout the whole growing season. Each family receives a Green Family Gardeners guidebook with information on how to plant, care for and harvest your organic garden, garden recipes, common pest identification and remedies and instructions for garden crafts.
