THE CUSTOMERS AND TARGET GROUPS

1. CUSTOMERS AND TARGET GROUPS Why should they choose a cruise instead of their usual land-based resort holiday? Here is why!

NCL CRUISE HOLIDAY

Variety of staterooms available, from Studios through to The Haven. Guests can choose their stateroom number at time of booking.

A new port to explore almost every day, providing variety and value for money.

1 1.1 NEW-TO-CRUISE GUESTS WHO USUALLY BOOK A LAND-BASED RESORT

LAND-BASED RESORT HOLIDAY

Room is allocated by the hotel, providing limited choice of location in the resort, usually balcony or family rooms.

One destination to discover, meaning limited variety of experiences and cultures.

Up to 20 high quality and varied global dining options, including main dining rooms, buffet style and 24-h eateries. Speciality dining is included in the Free at Sea upgrade, in restaurants of your choice.

Limited choice of dining options, mostly buffet style, based around local produce. Open at set times each day. Speciality dining (if available in resort) is extra €€.

Ship-wide, varied entertainment including

Broadway musicals. Headline acts usually have two showings an evening.

Daily service charges (tips) can be prepaid or automatically added to your shipboard account.

Wake up every day to new horizons and new views.

Itineraries can be amended to avoid severe weather and political upheaval.

Unlimited premium, quality alcoholic beverages and soft drinks when guests upgrade to the Free at Sea package.

24-h bar venue for drinks and comfort food favourites.

Incredible activities, like climbing walls, waterparks, laser tag, go-karting and more.

Usually limited to one show an evening and often local acts.

Worries over tipping – who, how much and when?

Same view every morning.

Limited enjoyment if weather is not great.

Restricted drinks list and often limited to local brands. Usually just one or two bars available in the resort.

Bars only open at certain times and food rarely available around the clock.

Usual resort activities, like pool games, mini-golf, table tennis, etc.

Tip: NCL's product garners higher pricing than its contemporary cruise peers – which means higher commissions, especially compared to a land-based resort. We also get more frequent repeat bookings compared to land-based resorts and the innovative cruise product is a growing market.
