Kepculloch Summer Tops Autumn Sale
The October edition of the Border and Lakeland Holstein Club’s sale was a credit to all the breeders involved. The quality on offer was incredible with the sale achieving a 100% clearance, according to auctioneer Glyn Lucas. Kepculloch Artes Summer, consigned by Robert Steel and Son, led trade at 3200gns when she sold to Hamish Campbell, Auchenlane, Castle Douglas. Summer is by Go-Farm Artes and is backed by eight generations of dams classified Excellent or Very Good. Her third dam was the 95 pointed Rudolph that won the Royal Highland Show for the Steel family back in 2005 and her Excellent 92 grand dam, sired by Shottle, sold in the October 2012 sale for a top price of 4000gns.
Averages: 82 cows and heifers in milk £1609.13, 72 heifers in milk £1697.80 (Harrison and Hetherington)
Cragyeat disperses to a top of 1750gns
On Monday 26th October North West Auctions held the dispersal sale of the Cragyeat Herd of pedigree Holsteins on behalf of Brian and Diane Barnes. A ringside full of both local and travelled buyers ensured all classes were eagerly bid for.
A top price of 1750gns was paid for Cragyeat Stanleycup Betsy, calved a month she sold giving 36kg.

Stardale sells top price at Lancaster
North West Auction’s monthly dairy sale on Monday 19th October saw 28 entries forward, with trade improved on the previous month with six heifers breaking the £2000 barrier. Top price at £2180 was J Burrow and Son’s Stardale Tiergan Vaakje 3, a fresh heifer giving 34kg that stood reserve champion in the pre-sale show.
Average: heifers £1640, cows £1580.
