Rebecca Channing celebrating her overall championship win.

Erica Rijneveld put competitors through their paces in the showmanship classes.

to mature handler Rebecca Channing from Central Counties handling Blydale El Niro Missy. Good things come to those who wait and this is certainly the case for Rebecca who has qualified 19 times in 21 years of competing and won her first All Breeds All Britain Showmanship championship in her final year of competing. In each of those 19 years she finished in the top 10 placings.

Her many highlights to date include champion showman at Central Counties Calf Show 2015, UK Dairy Expo 2014 and reserve in 2013, champion

showman at Cheshire show 2012, interbreed champion handler at Yorkshire Calf Show 2010, 2012 and 2014, as well as being champion Holstein showman at Yorkshire Calf Show seven times, champion handler Great Yorkshire Show 2013, international champion handler 2011 in Ireland, first place mature handler 2011 at the EYBS in Belgium finishing seventh overall in the European competition, as well as first place handler at the HYB Weekend Rally 2011 and 2013. Following her success, a rather emotional Rebecca commented: “Words can't explain what winning the showmanship means to me, it has been a dream and an ambition of mine since I caught the showing bug at only six years old. Years of watching Adrian Hindmarsh and Lucy Carter made me realise

I wanted to become as good as them and thankfully they became fantastic life-long friends and brilliant mentors, I owe a lot to both of them and their families. Not living on a farm meant finding calves has always been a struggle, but there have always been great friends willing to provide calves for me throughout my showing career. Years of travelling up and down the country and countless hours of training calves hasn't been easy while juggling full time employment, but the sheer passion for the breed and determination to strive to be the best I can has kept me driven and it has finally paid off in my last year.” Commenting on her judging Erica said: “I was highly impressed with the quality of these handlers and it was great to have the time to spend with
