91 2100gns top at Border and Lakeland Club Sale
The Border and Lakeland Club Show and Sale on Wednesday 9th September saw a complete clearance with a top price of 2100gns. Sale leader was the pre-sale champion Townlaw Silver Lupin from Bryce and Robert Sloan, which sold to W Brewster, Stirling. This Townlaw Silver daughter sold giving 34kg and is out of a GP84 scored dam by Braedale Goldfinger. Also included in the sale was the first consignment of 70 fresh cows and heifers to disperse W M Dotchin’s Cumcatch herd, Brampton. They sold up to a top price of 1650gns for a freshly calved heifer giving 30kg.

Souththreave disperse to a top of 1950gns
The dispersal of the Andrew family’s Souththreave herd at Carlisle on Saturday 12th September saw trade peak at 1950gns. Heading the prices was one of the catalogue cover girls, Souththreave Travis Ruth 2, a third calved daughter of the Jocko Besne son Souththreave Travis. Fresh in June and giving 42kg a day, she sold to J J Taylor, Thursby.
Averages: 70 cows in milk £989.85, 50 heifers in milk £1328.69, 14 in-calf heifers £1237.50, 12 recently served heifers £632.63, 61 heifer calves £492.64. (Harrison and Hetherington)

Ards lead September sale at Moira
Quality heifers with volumes of milk and good components met a strong demand from commercial bidders at Holstein NI’s September show and sale, Moira. Leading trade at 2350gns was the pre-sale champion Ards Alexander Zandra from the Patton family. Sired by Alexander she is out of the Dundee daughter Smiddiehill Zahra VG89 who averaged 9686kg at 3.89%bf and 3.29%p in her first three 305-day lactations and is backed by a further six generations of VG or EX dams. This heifer sold one month fresh and giving 34kg a day to Robert Stewart for his Quinton herd, County Down.
