old Witherslack Lauthority Annie from the Inman family was awarded best udder. She calved with her second before she turned three years old and stood interbreed champion at Westmorland Show. Top of the line in the four year-old class was Alistair and Janeen Smith’s third calved Carkin Golden Squaw EX92. She is backed by three generations of consecutive EX dams with her dam being the EX92-2E Richaven Mattador Squaw. Calved in May she was shown giving 50kg with a projected yield of 12,500kg and back in-calf to Glauco for May. This was her fourth consecutive year at Northern Expo and she has always been in the top two. Winning the five year-old in milk class was Colin and Mark Dent’s Sahara Goldwyn Sara 3 EX91. Calved in July with her third she was shown giving 50kg a day and stood champion Holstein at Appleby Show in August. She is the eighth generation of VG or EX cows and her VG87 scored Windbrook daughter sold at the Black and White Sale 2014 for 3500gns to Letterkenny Holsteins.


In the heifer championship, reserve went to the Davidson family’s Errolston Yadda Ricki. Coming through as winner of the senior heifer class, this 28 month-old heifer was shown two months calved and giving 35kg a day. Sired by Co-op Bosside Massey, she is backed by 11 generations of VG or EX dams being out of Errolston Goldwyn Ricki EX93.


Sam Blease dominated the junior section leading his own Starlet Snowy Sheen to take the calf championship, as well as clinching the showmanship honours himself. This August 2014-born heifer by Velthius Let It Snow was purchased at the Black and White Sale 2014 from Kevin Rickard and stood second at Westmorland and Cartmel Shows this summer. Her dam is the VG87 scored Shottle Windbrook Sheen.


Standing reserve calf champion was Will Booth on the halter of his father David’s Feizor Berryholme C Lasenza. Sired by Larcrest Contrast, she is out of the 2013 All-American and All-Canadian champion junior two year old, Belfast Goldwyn Lasenza.


Meanwhile Robert Morley stood reserve showman leading Petteril Dempsey Rexanne 2. Last year he stood first in the junior showmanship class at the All Breeds All Britain Calf Show.


Sam Bleaze won the showmanship championship as well as the calf championship with Starlet Snowy Sheen.


The reserve champion Newbirks Lauthority Caye stood top of the three year old class.


Champion heifer Feizor Shadow T Wendy went on the stand honourable mention for the Booth family.
