WHAT HAVE WE DONE?


Over the last three years the JSF has achieved its ambitious expansion goals delivering over 2500 contact hours into the community annually. The programme started with a two coach ‘spare time’ programme offering only basic Strength and Conditioning services to eighteen athletes. It has grown to a robust organisation offering a wide range of programmes and services as well as providing an exciting opportunity for bright local graduates in the field of sport and exercise sciences. Today the programme supports over 150 athletes, multiple local sports associations and coaches and it works very closely with its key strategic partners such as Jersey Sport and the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey. The team has now grown to five full-time and one part time member of staff.


WHAT DOES THE FUTURE LOOK LIKE?


Our goal is to advance our services further to enhance the development of top level athlete and coach centred performance services, as well as the continued development of scientific performance pathway services. We foresee the continued use of intelligently led performance pathway services by providing a sustainable and clear pathway for athletes which will allow Jersey to continue to punch above its weight on the international sporting environment. Clearly the employment of high quality local staff and effective long term staff development will grow as will the importance of strong collaboration with our key partners like Jersey Sport, the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey, the multiple local sports associations and their athletes.
