Some questions for Keely

Question: What do you do to unwind at the end of a long day? Answer: Sometimes I just want to chill out in front of the television. Sometimes I might go out for a meal and catch up with friends and sometimes I like to go for a walk with my boyfriend.

Question: What do you like most about being a Boutique Junior sales assistant/stylist?

Answer: What is there not to like about dealing with fashion everyday, if you love fashion? I find myself excited when unpacking new collections and deciding which will most suit our clients, and I enjoy spending time talking and listening to clients as many of them have a wealth of knowledge. It is a very varied job.

There is still much to do before I can close the shop, and e-mails need to be checked from clients and suppliers, and appointments for the next day have to be allocated if they want to see a particular person.

Finally, with a satisfying sigh and a last-minute check that I have not forgotten anything, I head for the door. Job done it’s time to head home for dinner or out to meet a friend for a catch up, sometimes over a glass of well earned wine.

Question: What do you most dislike about being a Boutique Junior sales assistant/stylist?

Answer: I suppose, as a junior in a boutique anxious to do well

and please, it can sometimes be frustrating as you want to see the job done from start to finish. As a junior, you might think you pretty much have it nailed down when in fact another pair of eyes is often required. It is hard sometimes but whatever career one chooses, it takes time and patience. You can get frustrated at the fact that as a junior who works very hard, you are still not there, yet!

Question: How did you become a Boutique Junior sales assistant/stylist? Answer: At Le Rocquier School I found a love for Art and Media which they helped me nurture and later expand at Highlands College. This is where I developed my artistic side and how to express myself through different art forms. Fashion seemed to be the career where I could put my skills to good effect.

Question: What advice would you give to someone, either just starting their career or midway through their career, who wants to be a Boutique Junior sales assistant/stylist?

Answer: My motto is stay focused and see the positive in everything you do. If you and others believe you have a flair for something, go with it, whatever you choose to do. For me, I love people, fashion and a range of creative things which are what is required in this industry where the rewards far out weigh the hard work.
