Question: What do you do to unwind at the end of a long day? Answer: Looking back on the achievements of the day or simply sitting in front of the TV or having a nice hot bath.
Question: What do you like most about being an MD of a Building Company?
Answer: Meeting people and assisting them in resolving their construction problems.
Question: What do you most dislike about being a an MD of a Building Company?
Answer: The endless paperwork.

Many of the lessons I have learnt from years in the construction industry have been valuable in helping drive my businesses forward, and I'm really looking forward to continuing to deliver the best care to our clients and expand the businesses further.
Change and transition are fundamental to most organisations and particularly relevant to The Havard Group at the moment as the various companies continue to grow. However with the great teams we have in place, I'm confident we will realise the targets we have set ourselves.
I finish work between 18.30 p.m. and 19.00 p.m. most days and make every effort to get home as quickly as possible to help with the evening routine and try to relax.
I'm a huge football fan and usually get to a few games a season watching my beloved Manchester United at the Theatre of Dreams (or Nightmares depending on who we are playing). After a long week’s work, I try to spend as much time as possible with my family and friends at the weekends.
Question: How did you become an MD of a Building Company? Answer: After working in the local industry for over 35 years and having a passion and understanding of the more complex parts of construction and its defects, it seemed the natural place to be.
Question: What advice would you give to someone, either just starting their career or midway through their career, who wants to be an MD of a Building Company?
Answer: You will only get out what you put in, so put the hours in, work hard, ask loads of questions, learn as much as you can, and develop your skills by exposing yourself to as many areas of company management as possible even if some may be outside of your comfort zone.
