I

knew engineering wasn’t for me,” Hesam explains. “It didn’t give me the emotional satisfaction I was craving. Engineering was all about calculations and logic. I

wanted something that could bring a smile to someone’s face, change their life, or simply make their day.” After exploring several business opportunities, he discovered the care sector. “It felt perfect, exactly what I had been looking for without realising it.”

Finding the right fit True to his engineering background, Hesam approached his next step with thorough research. “I looked at Right at Home’s values and felt they aligned with my own: integrity, trust and respect. I reviewed other franchises too, but the commercial side felt more prominent elsewhere. Right at Home simply felt right.”

A personal connection to care Hesam’s motivation was also shaped by personal experience. “I have ageing parents, and accompanying my father through heart surgery and recovery made me think

differently about care. It gave me a greater understanding of people living with similar conditions and needs.” His wife, an NHS radiographer, further deepened that

appreciation. “Seeing the demands of healthcare made me realise how hard our carers work. I have enormous respect for the commitment they show every day.”

Support that makes a difference Entering a highly regulated sector, Hesam says National Office support has been invaluable. “Compliance support has helped immensely. The in-person visits are particularly valuable because we can work through improvements together.” That support has contributed to strong operational performance, including an Outstanding internal compliance rating and a verified 10/10 score on homecare.co.uk.

“Make sure your values align with the organisation”

The benefits of resales

Hesam joined through a resale opportunity. “The biggest advantage is you don’t start from zero. You already have clients, a registered business and an established team ... it’s a very good route.” He credits the support of the National Office team and the resale process with helping make the transition smooth and manageable.

Looking ahead Hesam’s ambition is clear: “We’ve been recognised as a Top 20 Home Care Provider in the East of England for the fourth time in 2025 and a Five-Star Employer. We want to continue growing our reputation for high-quality care.” Right at Home Hemel Hempstead was also named Domiciliary Care Provider of the Year at the National Care Awards, recognising the team’s commitment to exceptional care. When asked what advice he would give prospective

franchise owners, Hesam’s answer is simple: “Make sure your values align with the organisation. Be ready for hard work and trust the franchise model. If you follow the system and put the effort in, the rewards do come. It’s been challenging, but incredibly rewarding.”
