FRANCHISEFOCUS

The VIP Day Centre story Director Natalie had been working in various care settings over the course of 14 years, supporting people living with dementia, sensory impairments, and disabilities, when a family member became ill with dementia. Her grandmother needed 24-hour support but did not want to go into residential care and Natalie realised that there was very little affordable support in the area to enable her grandmother to remain at home. Although paying for domiciliary care ensured her grandmother was safe and well, she would still be left socially isolated from her friends and her community. Together with knowledge from her own personal

experience, that caring for a family member is often exhausting, Natalie became convinced that there was a much-needed call for more support for people living with dementia and their families, especially with many Local Authority Day Centres having been closed down due to lack of funding.

"a profitable, rewarding business, which gives both members and their carers in the community a safe, happy, trustworthy, person-centred day care centre of which you will become really proud"

Following specialist dementia training, Natalie

developed her idea of a sustainable day care business model with the aim of providing high- quality care to individuals to live well with all types of dementia, and Valuing Individual People (VIP) Day Centre was born.
