Wiltshire Farm Foods

Jim Dudley had spent his entire career in the corporate sector when, in 2018, he decided it was time to pursue his ambition to run his own business.

How long have you been a franchisee? What did you do before? What led you to franchising? I had spent a number of years working in the corporate sector as a sales and marketing director for a large UK foodservice wholesaler and wanted to be my own boss. Having spent my working life growing businesses that belonged to other people, I wanted control of my own destiny and to have the chance to make a difference in my community.

What attracted you to Wiltshire Farm Foods as an investment opportunity? Wiltshire Farm Foods was an easy choice, as I knew that I could bring my experience and knowledge to the role. It was an added bonus that the company operates in a sector with a growing demographic. I was also drawn to Wiltshire Farm Foods as each

franchise partner has sole distribution rights for the products within a specified area, and I felt this was important.

How does your franchise contribute to your wellbeing and work-life balance? I moved from the Midlands to Cornwall when purchasing the franchise for a complete lifestyle change. My staff and I are extremely proud of what we

have achieved over the past year. It brings us all great satisfaction when the locals know who we are and what we do.

How does your franchise contribute to the wellbeing of your team and of the customer base and community? The wellbeing of my team is really important to me. The business has provided them with stability for their families and employed additional full-time staff. When it comes to supporting the local

community, we donate meals and sleeping bags to St Petrocs; a fantastic charity working to end homelessness in Cornwall. We’ve also succeeded in raising £1,000 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance this year which we’re all really proud of. For the next 12 months we are supporting Cornish Blood Bikes, whose volunteers deliver vital medical supplies throughout the Duchy. Wiltshire Farm Foods’ in-house dietitian

is central to the development process of all its meals. Wiltshire Farm Foods also has a dedicated and passionate product development team which is constantly looking to innovate and develop its existing range, especially for those with special requirements such as swallowing difficulties.
