Public Administrator Successfully Restores 5 Cases


The Public Administrator is commonly known as the “Guardian of Last Resort.” Appointed by the Court, the office serves as guardian and conservator for incapacitated and/or disabled County residents and their estates. In 2024, the office was appointed to 129 new cases for a total of 723. This year, the office celebrated five successful restorations, when an individual is rehabilitated and has their rights restored.


“Restoration is one of the few events that our office gets to celebrate. This year, we got to celebrate five individuals being declared competent and regaining their rights. While it does not occur as often as we would like, it is evidence that when individuals with disabilities are appropriately supported by their community, they can succeed.”
