Youth on the Rise Summer Camp’s Iron Chef Competition


The Center for Youth on the Rise in our Department of Human Services hosted its 2024 Summer Camp, themed “Iron Chef Competition,” offering an unforgettable experience for 324 youth. The camp focused on teaching culinary skills, teamwork, and creativity, with participants learning about healthy eating and sustainable practices through partnerships with CAASTLC’s Seeds of Hope Farm and the Lincoln University Extension Nutrition Program.


The program culminated in an exciting


outdoor cooking competition, where teams showcased their skills and creativity by preparing dishes judged by community leaders. This engaging initiative not only empowered youth with valuable life skills but also fostered a sense of collaboration and confidence, leaving a lasting impact on participants and their families.
