New $10 Million Hangar Complex Coming to Spirit of St. Louis Airport
In June, ground was broken on a new $10 million hangar complex at Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield. Dubbed the Spirit Sky Club, this project is backed entirely by local St. Louisans and pilots, reflecting a commitment to community and aviation excellence. The project has garnered national attention, being mentioned in FLYING magazine as the next best “community-focused” hangar space. Spirit Sky Club is founded by two father-son duos, Douglas & Alexander Martin, and Kevin & Griffin Alm. Spanning over 1,000 acres, Spirit of St. Louis Airport (KSUS) is the business aviation center of the Midwest. The airport is owned and operated by Saint Louis County government and oversees more than 400 flights daily. In 2024, the airport celebrated its 60th anniversary. It employs nearly 3,000 people with an annual economic impact of $400 million. This year, the airport reported 137,497 takeoffs and landings and sold more than 6.8 million gallons of fuel.
