58 Kevin Fernandes, CRO, Dejero What are the biggest
challenges facing the media and entertainment industry? To work with a leaner, more cost- effective and fl exible production model; to continuously produce new content in higher-resolutions; to cover even more events and sports, live – including niche events. To fulfi ll the appetites of relentless on-demand consumers.
How is your company helping its customers to address the challenges faced by the media and entertainment industry? It has always been our mission to deliver connectivity everywhere. We are facilitating real-time transmission of video in the fi eld and making it easier to transmit 4K/UHD signals. With our GateWay solutions, we’re providing reliable mobile internet with optimal bandwidth using all available IP networks, including 5G, so that remote production personnel can access systems and information that were not possible before. With GateWay Mode on our EnGo 3, 3x and 3s,
all this can be achieved from a single unit in a backpack.
What do you think are the main drivers in your market sector? The media and entertainment industry is gearing up to serve 4K/UHD video to the masses – a key driver in the evolution of the enabling technologies. The demand for AR and VR is also ramping up, so IP and cloud workfl ows – as well as 5G – are essential to delivering these experiences to the consumer. We’re expecting to see some interesting developments here at IBC. We’re also seeing the use of AI content creation to aid content producers in their plight to deliver data-driven and faster turn-around of productions.
What are the main areas of focus for your company during IBC2023? At IBC, we’re focusing our attention on 4K/UHD transmission from the fi eld for remote production and remote contribution – and utilising
A DAB HAND AT TESTING Collabora

Open-source software provider Collabora is demonstrating how it is enabling manufacturers to deploy Device Automation Bus
the more recently deployed IP networks, such as 5G, Starlink and other Leo satellites – to create resilient connectivity. We have launched our latest mobile transmitter at IBC, the EnGo 3s, which carries the same powerful features of the EnGo 3, including native 5G modems and built-in GateWay Mode for wireless internet broadband connectivity; it also offers 12G-SDI and HDMI connectors for single-cable transmission of 4K/UHD signals.
What sets your company apart as a technology leader? Our Emmy Award-winning Smart Blending Technology ultimately enables broadcasters and fi lm producers to aggregate the best networks available and seamlessly bridge gaps between existing and new IP networks, wherever they are.
Aiming for easy to use and less stressful operations in high-pressure environments is ingrained in the Dejero culture. The way in which we evolve our solutions to help our customers
(DAB), a network protocol that enables device manufacturers and application developers to remotely control a device under test.
Collabora has implemented an open-source DAB Native Adapter written in Rust, enabling
manufacturers to create their own backend using platform- specifi c APIs and leverage the protocol in a secure manner. Collabora created a specifi c backend that can be used directly by any RDK-based devices, and as a reference to enable other platforms. 5.B66
overcome current and future challenges is something we’ve always been proud of. This is manifested in the number of world fi rsts that we’ve had the privilege of being involved in, including being the fi rst to blend Starlink for backhaul connectivity at Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral; enabling the fi rst ever all- remote multi-sport production at the XIII South American Games; transmitting the fi rst live human hologram over 5G, and many more. Our solutions are also being widely adopted in the public safety sector so that also demonstrates we’re providing truly mission-critical connectivity. 2.B51
