Arriving at IBC with a freshly minted patent from the US Patent Offi ce, Hoppr is underscoring its “pioneering approach” to creating “ultra-premium” video inventory for pay-TV operators. The solution is HopprTV, which opens up unique and engaging advertising opportunities for brands while generating additional revenue streams for operators. Its inventory is claimed to be unparalleled – 100% user initiated, 100% brand safe and viewable, and 100% standalone, where ads are presented individually rather than in ‘ad pods.’

AI video technology company Magnifi by VideoVerse is expanding beyond its traditional area of AI highlights generation for sports content, moving into general entertainment and eventually news. Introducing its entertainment
product at IBC, Meghna Krishna, Chief Revenue Offi cer at Magnifi , said the company will be opening it up for early access by the end of September. “We are still trying to defi ne the use cases, but it can very quickly become a great storytelling tool which can assist an editor in creating great content much faster,” Krishna said. The new platform works exclusively on entertainment content and automates the creation of short clips from long-form content, by using recognition of faces, speech, places, objects, actions and audio cues. Magnifi is also expanding its
presence in Latin America and Africa, broadening its remit

beyond India, Europe and the United States.
Krishna noted that the growing
awareness of AI, thanks to recent hype around generative AI as embodied by ChatGPT, has been helpful for Magnifi . “A lot of our partners, or even competitors, are now talking to us… because they know that they need AI,” she observed.

A battery-free remote control that uses energy-harvesting technology is a focus for Ohsung and TW Electronics. Korea’s Ohsung is one of the world’s biggest suppliers of remote controls and TW Electronics is its sales and marketing arm.
The new sustainable battery-
free solutions include energy- harvesting options using
either conventional PV cells, Powerfoyle or Bifacial PV cells. The companies also have
a remote that requires just a single AAA battery. Developed in collaboration with chipset manufacturer Atmosic, the new generation technology means just one battery could last the lifetime of the product. And what if you lose the
remote? TW has a solution for that. Just push the ‘Buzzer’ on the set-top box and your remote will ring (presumably from down the back of the sofa).
