SOUNDING GREAT WHATEVER YOUR ENVIRONMENT Genelec
BY KEVIN EMMOTT
Acting as a bridge to its Unio Audio Monitoring Service Platform, speaker specialist Genelec has unveiled its new 9320A reference controller at IBC.
Unio brings together all the benefi ts of Genelec Smart Active Monitors, GLM 5.0 calibration software and Aural ID 2.0 technology to create integration between professional in-room loudspeaker and headphone monitoring services.
At the heart of the Unio platform is Genelec’s range of Smart Active
Monitors, while for professional headphone users, Genelec’s Aural ID technology provides a personal headphone listening experience. “We wanted to combine the options to have a single controller for in-room monitoring but with the ability to also use headphones,” said Genelec Senior Customer Experience Specialist Marcel Schechter. “This is useful if you have to make revisions, for example, in an environment where there is no speaker system. This can be done with Aural ID using virtual speakers.” The introduction of Unio and the tactile 9320A hub provides both static and mobile professional

In a claimed industry fi rst with Eluvio, Nagra has announced a blockchain-based video distribution system with forensic watermarking. Nagra’s NexGuard Streaming session-based watermarking will be applied to the Eluvio Content Fabric as part of a content security model for streaming at scale. The integration is one of several that Nagra is making to secure premium content end-to-end from camera to screen. NexGuard

Frame.io cloud platform. This is in private beta with plans to release by the end of the year. In addition, the solution is being integrated into Sony’s Ci Media Cloud to enhance the security of pre- release content during review and collaboration in production and postproduction workfl ows. “Nagra is excited to help studios and original content owners prevent the negative consequences of leaks that can occur throughout movie production and postproduction

In another claimed fi rst, the watermarking technology is integrated with the Qtake video assist tool. This is already being utilised by Hollywood studios and post facilities.
“Thanks to these partnerships, valuable content such as production dailies, rushes and takes now automatically includes forensic watermarking with a unique identifi er generated on a

For example, they might test it for disaster recovery, “and they fi nd that, actually, it works”, Hunganeart added. “Now we see customers start to think, let’s see in our business, where it makes sense to move… It could be ad insertion, it could be regionalisation, or disaster recovery. There’s much more acceptance, not that this is the

Norris observed that Synamedia customers have often been with the company for decades. “And those customers are very, very slow to move. In the video networks part of the business in particular [with SaaS-based Synamedia Iris], new innovation is all SaaS and the customers are starting to embrace that.” Hall 1 – Balcony suite 21
