Depth charge throwers Canadian corvettes were initially fi tted with two Mk. II throwers located in the waist of the ship, which hurled a depth charge and its carrier some forty yards to the side. By 1943 two more throwers had been added. Sackville mounts the later Mk. IV type that retained the carrier, thus simplifying reloading; however, these were fi tted during its post war restoration. My Agassiz reference book has drawings of both types. Figure 80 shows Sackville’s throwers. Note the recoil cylinders, absence of carriers, and charges marked for TNT fi lling, not Amatol like Chicoutimi’s. Figure 81 shows a Mk. II thrower being
