Should the frame be reversed, the futtock butt joint would be at the gun port.
Figure 12 shows the keel, keelson, stem deadwood, and stern deadwood. To make these, take a suitable length of ¼-inch-thick poplar and affi x the keel, stem, and stern deadwood drawings with spray adhesive.
T en cut out the keel sections with a jig saw or coping saw. Pay particular care to make the notches in the keel the exact size of the respective frame thickness. Note that the scarph joints which join the keel ends to the stem and stern wood will be seen. T ey can be made more prominent by painting the butt ends black, to replicate the fl annel and tar used in the real
