14. Once painting is complete and fully dried, use a white pencil to sketch out the crests of the waves (and the wakes around the ship’s hull). T is will help guide you on the fi nal steps of creating convincing white (and foamy) crests across the entire layout.
diluted white glue to the surface and place the thin strips of toilet paper across the entire plastered base. Texture the paper strips by pushing them around with a paintbrush while they are wet. (Figure 10) You will also overlap strips of the paper. Make sure to cover the entire surface of the base; when done well, this step will take some time. Before everything sets up from the glue, use a second, smaller paintbrush to shape some of the toilet paper eff ects. (Figure 11)
