Cut the frame with a jig saw. Make the keel notch as accurate as possible. (Figure 11) Cut the outside of the frame fi rst so that the paper inside restrains and supports the frame.

that the gun port openings need to be cut out of the frames. T e openings have the vertical sides as part of the full frames. T e gun port lintels are notched into half of the full frames. T e selection of the orientation of the full frames where the frame makes up the side of the gun port should be such that the futtock joints at the gun port elevation are toward the gun port opening. T is frame orientation removes the weak butt joint and retains the stronger and longer frame assembly at the gun port opening.
