72. T e light fully detailed from the front, ready for paint. T e disc was made on a vinyl mask cutter.

73. T e 20-inch searchlight completed and mounted on the ship.

mounted in its platform on a post painted light sea grey. (Figure 73)

I bought a 1:48-scale 2-pounder pom-pom kit from Sirmar. I used only the barrel, resin base and sighting arch, making new gunner platforms from styrene angle and K&S aluminum mesh, and replacing the gun shield with brass sheet embossed with the correct rivet pattern. (Figure 74) I made a new breech, mounting tray, and ammunition box from styrene. (Figure 75) T e shells were turned on my lathe from brass rod. Aſt er painting they were wrapped with thin strips of masking tape to simulate the feed belt and glued into the ammunition box with epoxy. T e gun was painted with Tamiya XF-21 Sky Green and Model Master gunmetal and brass. Highlights were brought out with a fl at black wash. T e sights are Czech Models, from a photo-etch set of World War I aircraſt sights. (Figures 76 & 77)

74. T e Sirmar resin base, rebuilt with accurate platforms and gun shield.

75. T e 2-pounder Sirmar barrel with scratch built breech, tray and ammunition box with shells.
