7. To even out the thick compound, the most eff ective tool for this eff ort will be your fi ngertips. Work fast though, the water-based material dries quickly.
9. T e secret sauce: single-ply toilet paper and white glue, applied with a 1-inch-wide paintbrush. In the background, a lightly sanded surface is ready to accept the next step.
8. Before the compound sets, add one fi nal touch: use a wide brush to smooth out the surface with feather-like strokes. Do not worry about the small areas that do not look right. You will fi x most of these at the next stage.
