Baked goodness!
Is there anything more quintessentially French than the baguette? President Emmanuel Macron hailed the humble loaf as “250 grammes of magic and perfection in our daily lives” when at the end of 2022 UNESCO granted it intangible world heritage status in recognition of its ‘artisanal culture and know-how’. We are dealing with much more than a mere loaf. The traditional baguette, made with only four ingredients – flour, water, salt and yeast – is baked in small batches and doesn’t stay fresh for long, meaning that it also helps to grow stronger local communities thanks to all those daily visits to the bakery.
