to use the Durston Planishing Press simply place the metal onto the planishing block which has been case hardened, flat and polished. Using the palm of your hand on the top of the machine, press the striker down with strength onto the metal. the striker will then raise up again ready to push it down all over again. this tool enables the planishing to be done with great ease and can also be used when you want to put a design onto a metal sheet. in order to carry this out, you need to place the pattern under the metal sheet show and strike the machine down. this may have to be repeated in order to get the required quality of the pattern.
