Sapphires can occur in a variety of different colours, and this delicate shade of pink is one of the most beautiful. Found in Sri Lanka and East Africa, the colour can vary from very pale to dark pink in hue. Because of this variation, it is debatable where to draw the line between calling a stone a Pink Sapphire or a Ruby. It is believed that if the stone is worn directly on the skin it will ward off ill health and misfortune.
These yellow Sapphires are Beryllium (Be) treated, a common treatment involving the presence of Beryllium with blue or yellow-green Corundum which is heated to very high temperature over an extended period of time. Sapphires can contain some slight inclusions and zoning, due to the nature of the stone.
